Birkenhead's proud history
dates back to the year 1150.
The
1800s saw the building of the
magnificent Hamilton Square
and the famous Birkenhead Market
In
1974 fire engulfed the market,
marking the end of an era,
but the old clock was saved
and restored, taking pride of
place in the main entrance
at the new market.

Birkenhead's greats
are commemorated, with the market aisles
named after Dixie Dean (legendary footballer),
Laird (world renowned shipbuilder),
Paxton (world's first public park,
Birkenhead, which
was later copied in Central Park, New York),
Tate (sugar/art galleries), Brassey (world's greatest railway builder),
and one of our oldest respected retailers in the town,
Pyke (quality jewellers).

Birkenhead Market, with over 250 "colourful"
stalls
including two nationally acclaimed fishmongers, lies in the
heart of the town with the new bus station right outside!
Birkenhead town
centre is close to the Mersey tunnel
and is served by two rail stations, Central and
the new Conway Park.
There is ample parking
including large open car parks
(Claughton Road 650 space and Europa 150 space)
and the Pyramids multi-storey (Borough Road 750 space).
