Ruthin
school was founded in 1574 and granted a royal charter as a
centre of academic excellence in North Wales. The school moved
to its present site on the 1890's.
Ruthin
school is a co-educational day and boarding school for pupils
aged 3-18 years.
The
school stands at the edge of the small market town of Ruthin,
in the beautiful Vale of Clwyd. Manchester airport is an hour
by car, and the historic Roman city of Chester is 30 minutes
drive.
The
Junior school
provides a wide curriculum with emphasis on the basic skills
of reading, writing and numeracy. Classes are small ensuring
a high degree of individual attention, and that children perform
to the maximum of their ability.

At all times there is a close monitoring and consultation between
pupil, parent and school to ensure that subjects appropriate to
aptitude, ability, interest and possible future career aspirations
are followed.
Boarding pupils
are housed in purpose built blocks with recreational facilities
and common rooms. Housemasters and mistresses are responsible
for pastoral care, and there is a fully qualified live in nurse.
There are
a wealth of extra curricular activities including rugby, tennis,
netball, squash, cricket, swimming, golf, car maintenance and
climbing. The school has a combined Cadet Corps, which also offers
a wide range of activities. Pupils are encouraged to participate
in the Duke of Edinburgh Award scheme.
